It's up to the state to determine if any birth certificates are fraudulent, and to invalidate those birth certificates. The federal government has to honor valid birth certificates, and if it deems a birth certificate invalid, it has to have proof.

Exactly. It is shocking that Trumpologists in this thread actually think it's okay to deny an American citizen their due process based on racial and geographical profile.

This where the Trumpsters are taking us: https://www.choozler.com/choozlets/i...0423121623.jpg

But when Juan, 40, applied to renew his U.S. passport this year, the government's response floored him. In a letter, the State Department said it didn't believe he was an American citizen.

It has nothing to do with Obama.

It's your orange messiah, and you fully know it.

So desperate. So amusing.

Sorry, you, and your buts, lose. The article the OP linked brought up obama. If you didn't want him brought up then perhaps a link that didn't include obama should have been used.

"It has nothing to do with Obama."
It has everything to do with obama, he is the one who'd created this problem. It wasn't Trump or bush, no matter how hard you people wish it were (and y'all are still blaming bush for all of obama's faults, sad) You can try to drive the narrative by bringing up one single person that this is affecting, but that dog don't hunt since this has affected many during the last admin and this one.

Now, take a deep breath, go down a shot of Makers Mark and then come back and try to be constructive, eh?

It's pretty bad to think that some states can allow citizenship in the rest of the country based on their own political climate isn't it? Just like someone not liking that one state is cracking down, other people can be concerned that other states may be allowing people to become or remain citizens because they fit their political agenda.

The use of midwives is a long-standing tradition in the region, in part because of the cost of hospital care.
Horsepooky.
There is no cost of hospital care for penniless people and everyone knows it. That's why people wait until after the child is born to get married - so the government will pay for everything.
The illegals thought they had figured out a way around the system. They have failed.

Once you are in the system -- it's a breeze.

What would the reason be? A citizen shouldn't have to go through this.

The state cannot invalidate every birth certificate that was issued on the basis of the testimony or affidavit of a midwife, even though the midwife was shown to have perjured herself, it has to go through the midwife's records and can only invalidate the birth certificates shown to be fraudulent. If the state cannot show a birth certificate to be fraudulent, then the state has to stand by the birth certificate. And if the state stands by a birth certificate, then the federal government has to respect that birth certificate, and issue social security numbers and provide any other federal services (like passports) based on that birth certificate. The federal government here is simply opening itself to more lawsuits, which it will lose.
