They can join those who have been convicted of downloading certain pornographic pictures and other really bad sexual sins, with the requisite loss of rights, inability to find employment and housing, etc, associated with the offenders' registry.
Unless, for whatever reason, they don't have to register.

I think we all know that if the Church was not so powerful they would be disbanded and thrown out of the country and these folks ALL registered and many jailed.
It is a perfect indication of our "justice" system and another good example of why we MUST get the Church out of our public affairs. We now only put up with this child and other abuse, we finance it...and approve it....and heap praise upon those institutions that practice it.
We're not talking exceptions to the rule here. We are talking big leagues. And Priests aren't the only ones - do you really think the Paterno and Olympic things are rare??

We will never see priests on sex offender lists, I mean cmon, really, thats never going to happen, the church is too powerful in the US, heck, its 2018 and 'In God we trust' is still on on currency, majority of our laws and regulations are derived from christian/biblical laws, we STILL have 'sin taxes' for petes sake!!
Historically, the church is pretty much above the law...I doubt that will change in any of our lifetimes.
