Yet I'm sure politicians will continue to claim that the U.S. has the best health care in the world.

The fact is the other states should look at what California is doing. It looks like California is doing something right. Every dog has his day. The advantage of having fifty state governments is we can learn from each other.

We are talking about pregnancy.

https://www.kff.org/womens-health-po...-state-survey/

"By federal law, all states provide Medicaid coverage for pregnancy-related services to pregnant women with incomes up to 133% of the federal poverty level (FPL) and cover them up to 60 days postpartum. All states must provide some level of maternity care free of cost-sharing to eligible pregnant women, although there are state level variations in the scope and type of services that states offer. In addition, many states extend eligibility to pregnant women with incomes considerably higher than this threshold. The ACA broadened Medicaid eligibility by allowing states to extend continuous Medicaid eligibility in 2014 to individuals with family income at or below 138% FPL and 31 states and the District of Columbia (DC) have adopted Medicaid expansion programs which extended coverage for new mothers beyond the postpartum period, where historically many women lost coverage."

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-...es-of-millions

"According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, about half of all births are now paid for by Medicaid, ranging from 72 percent in New Mexico in 2015 to 27 percent in New Hampshire."

The people with a problem are the working poor with too much income for Medicaid who do not have medical insurance.

Hyper-tension was not an issue for previous Generations. It has only arisen since the 1990s, so the issue is not so much medical as it is societal, so you have to ask what has happened since the early 1990s to cause increased hyper-tension.

Hypertension is not something just discovered in the last twenty to thirty years.

Hippocrates first described toxemia of pregnancy in about 400 BC. Its cause is still unknown.

https://www.preeclampsia.org/history-of-preeclampsia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_hypertension

"The modern history of hypertension begins with the understanding of the cardiovascular system based on the work of physician William Harvey (1578–1657), who described the circulation of blood in his book "De motu cordis". The English clergyman Stephen Hales made the first published measurement of blood pressure in 1733. Descriptions of what would come to be called hypertension came from among others, Thomas Young in 1808 and especially Richard Bright in 1836."

Sorry, there will be no diverting this issue to a communist economic narrative when the obvious parallel change was mass immigration.

There is no "its people" for Big Pharma and Politicians here, because we are a multicultural nation. For there to be a "people" that anyone cares about, the people at the top would need to perceive a tribal connection.

So, again, its about multiculturalism.

To blame "Big Pharma" and "health insurance" for a maternal death rate is nonsensical communist propaganda that diverts from the real issues and thus cultivates more death.

The issue is under skilled doctors from a system that has a vested interest in a multicultural medical professional body, as well as overloading the system with lots of third world people who cannot pay.

You seem to think everything is about Multiculturalism. And you seem to see it as a bad thing.
We certainly disagree on this.

"Communist Economic Narrative" and "Communist Propaganda"?
I do not appreciate that. I am not a Communist, nor do I prescribe to Communism.

Canada, Australia, the UK all have socialized Medicine or Universal Health Care. It doesn't mean
that they are Socialist Countries or Communist Countries.

Maybe you should look closer at your Country and it's history before calling someone else a Communist.

The U.S. now has the highest maternal death rate of every other developed nation in the world.

https://secondnexus.com/science/heal...2dc93302272904

A USA Today report has determined that the United States has become the “most dangerous place to give birth in the developed world.”

More than 700 women in the United States die from complications directly related to childbirth each year. In addition, more than 50,000 American women are severely injured as a result of childbirth on an annual basis. The report indicates that these injuries and deaths are the direct result of hospitals not following long-standard medical procedure.

The study, which lasted four years, indicates that the United States now has the highest maternal death rate anywhere in the developed world. This is in stark contrast to many other developing nations, which are experiencing all-time low rates in maternal deaths.

Maybe we need to look closer to California and see what they are doing. Obviously they are doing something right. Interesting since California has so many Immigrants and "Multiculturalism".
