You are so easily impressed and persuaded it is a shame you claim to be a Paul supporter. Do you think Paul or anyone that was really in the movement is impressed or likes this deal? You are the only Paul supporter that I know of { maybe in the whole world} that is giving this idea a thumbs up and clapping like a baby seal.
One of Paul"s main tenets was the extreme amount of military bases and personal stretched out all over the world. You might remember the message of "these countries should man their own bases and take the means necessary to defend their own countries and not be so reliant on the U S".
So does building a base and manning it sound like something that Paul would support? No, because he would n't because unlike you he and his followers do not want to feed the MIC. You are impressed that Poland offered 2 billion$ that is peanuts of what the cost of this will be in future years.
A U S base in Poland will contain nukes, missiles, anti nukes and all the toys of the MIC. And who is going to pay for all that? You can bet it won't be Poland. You know how it works, the {R}s will trot out a big military budget bill get it passed and signed by the POTUS and the money for Fort Trump that you are so proud of will be in the bill and getting funded.
So you are a different breed on one hand you are a Paul supporter and on the other a huge supporter of the MIC, yep you are one of kind.
Wait a minute here. Trump’s been adamant about the expenses we incur having overseas military bases. He’s wanted US troops out of S Korea and demanded that our NATO allies spend more money in Europe. Suddenly it’s all ok if a new base overseas is named Trump? The sheer narcissism of the so called Commander in Chief.
It's up to the US if they want a permanent base, and the possible best move would be to move some troops from Germany. However the article in the Washington Examiner story in the OP's orginal post merely stated that the US was examining options and no decision had been made yet.
I don't think the Poles will care what you call the base, as historically Poland hasn't had the best of neighbours in Germany and Russia, so a permanent US base would offer greater security.
In terms of Germany, the US Army were looking at sites in Northern Germany for a new base and there are plans for a new large NATO logistics and supply hub in Germany.
Again, why should any American give a damn about the security of Poland? Who among you would risk your life to save Poland? I damn sure wouldn’t
