Many have folded. Trump has treated many of his fellow Republicans with an incredible level of disrespect, yet they have, almost without exception, fallen in line without a whimper.

Trump's "mocking" of Ford was "critical" in them "stiffening their backbones." I don't get how insulting, humiliating and being inappropriate, along w/ Un-Presidential conduct is helping Republicans gain a backbone. Hmmm. Along the same line of thinking, I bet it's great for the female vote, too.

BS. The older GOP leaders are looking waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond Trump, and they had no intention of letting Ford or the loose-lips prez screw up this opportunity.

Well, I certainly will agree with you on the point highlighted in red. There is no denying that Trump gave a voice to millions of bigoted, sexist, racist, angry-for-God-knows-why people who were secretly seething inside but too afraid to come out and say the words that were in their heads. Suddenly, this unintelligent, brash, arrogant, loud mouth came on the scene, and they were able to feel they didn't have to hide in the shadows any longer. He was their instrument.

But this is deja vu all over again. Almost 90 years ago, we saw another leader come to power who said the words a lot of people in his country were secretly thinking. They were not happy with the circumstances, they felt the Jews were ruining their country, and his words struck a nerve that made them do unspeakable acts.

Someone once said that "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.". One of the truest statements ever made.

Nah, it's just typical RW hypocrisy.

Clinton lied under oath and they impeached him.

Kavanaugh's former room-mate and others have come forward saying Kavanaugh lied under oath and the FBI is told to ignore them and the right wants to give Kavanaugh a lifetime seat, the right questions unasked.

I do think Trumps's willingness to fight back in general has helped show the GOP that they won't die if they fight back.
He was not "mocking" anybody. You are just saying what CNN said He did not change his voice or act in any way that would be called mocking. What Trump said was on everyone's mind except that nobody dared say it.

I completely agree, he needs to remain above that BS. I understand it though, but sometimes he just needs to ****.

Only if Trump had nominated somebody else. Gimme a break. Dems have a file on everybody. You think his first runner up would fare any better?
