For the first time in 88 years, the Board of Veterans Appeals is being politicized.

Under orders from the Trump White House, the Veterans Administration, for the first time ever since 1930, has started to ask for political party affiliations of all candidates that are being considered for the Board of Veterans Appeals.

"The Board of Veterans’ Appeals has long filled a nonpartisan role in the federal government, run by dozens of judges charged with sorting through a thicket of regulations to determine whether an injured veteran is entitled to lifetime benefits.

But this summer, the White House rejected half of the candidates selected by the board chairwoman to serve as administrative judges, who make rulings on the disability claims. The rejections came after the White House required them to disclose their party affiliation and other details of their political leanings, according to documents viewed by The Washington Post.

Such questions had not been asked of judge candidates in the past, according to former judges and board staff."

I think there should be a law stating no political parties at all in government. You can belong to whatever you like, but it is completely separated from the government. Sort of like how someone can belong to the Boy Scouts, or the NRA, or the NHRA, but those entities are not listed in regards to the gov.

Smart idea and should be done all across government and especially in anything to do with education.
Diversity of ideas being the goal. The left should be supporting that but they most likely will complain the loudest b/c they don't believe in diversity of views at all.

Default Veterans' Programs Deteriorated While Obama Fiddled

The Veterans Programs declined during Obama's administration. Corruption at the top, huge wait times for care, veterans who died waiting for care, etc. At least get someone who will be a strong advocate for veterans' services. Liberals, unfortunately, would rather advocate for illegal immigrants and terrorist groups.

Lol, depends on who you talk to...

My opinion is it could be better, some of those rejections are ridiculous.
