With the latest issue with old tweets, Kevin Hart, having to step down as Oscar host, it made me wonder...why doesn't Twitter purge old tweets? That seems like it would be a Pro-Customer decision. Obviously politicians, celebrities and sports stars will probably have their tweets saved by some 3rd party for eternity but for everyone else, i think it only makes sense that it would be purged. Let's face it, there's no reason why a tweet made when someone was a dumb unknown high school kid should be a factor in the getting a job or running for office decades later. It seems like there are 3rd party options to delete tweets but I don't see why Twitter would want to keep the forever.

You can delete your own tweets. Take responsibility for, or purge, your own words.

In today's America with all of these outrage mobs on cringe fringe opposite ends. It is best to purge your comments. If someone finds out. Such person can contact your landlord or employer and you will have your livelihood upended. These sjws, white nationalist, feminists, pro blacks and Alt right need to stop their crap before things get worse.

No but it does not matter anyway . What something is placed on the Internet it is on the record from now on . Twitter could purge all of its records but if your famous or well-known I guarantee there are 1000 copies of everything you said All over the Internet

People should purge their own tweets and posts. Remember, the innocuous thing you say today may be a career-killing, reputation ruining thing tomorrow.
