I am not jealous of a living soul. I worked fifty years and retired comfortably. I'm not rich, but I have enough. That is an alien concept to some.
The point is, those who benefit the most from our system should be the ones most willing to support its upkeep. The rich will always be rich, regardless of the income tax imposed on them. Those who do not want to pay taxes for the upkeep of the country make the statement that they want to live in an inferior society.

Tell me how these people "benefit most from our system" will you? Lets take almost every top athlete in every sport, all of the top actors and actresses. How are they "benefiting the most from our system" and are you implying they use more infrastructure than we do?
70% is crazy, but we can't give tax cuts and tax loop holes to the rich so that Trump and Jared and Ivanka and other millionaires and billionaires don't pay federal income tax. Even if they paid the 35% that the middle class pays it would help. They just keep getting rich while 99% get poorer.
Rich people make most of their money from Capital Gains, so the lower capital gains rate allows them to pay a lower tax rate than the higher w2 earners, and that's not right
88% of federal income taxes are paid by the top 20%. Most of the top 20% do NOT make the bulk of their income on capital gains...that would be the top 5%....many small business owners who risked everything to fund their start up....like me.
This means that in NY and CA, when you include state and local taxes, some people will be paying over 80% in taxes. Thats just absurd, regardless of how much money anyone makes. The federal government does not have the right to take 70% of anyone's income, taking ~30% is questionable, especially considering how wasteful they are with it.
