My God .... you cannot blame the irrational behavior of the left on Trump. The leftists have always been that way ... sure, they are getting worse, but that’s because of their loony political leaders and main stream media.

When you refuse to see the humanity in other people, you lose part of your own. It's getting so bad, that now the left and right are starting to lose sight of the humanity of those on the other side of the aisle, let alone the other side of the fence.
This all started before Trump. If people are willing to be honest about it.
You could probably trace the ultra-conservative movement back to Reagan's "Republican Revolution" in 1980 (although the current crop of ultra conservatives makes Reagan look moderate in comparison), and definitely to Newt Gingrich, Jerry Falwell, and Rush Limbaugh in the 90s.
It's all there: the ultra-conservatives' callous attitudes toward poor people, brown people, foreign people, different people. Disregard for natural environment, safe drinking water, etc. Insistence on imposing "values" on everyone. Focus on the top tier of earners and on corporate profits.
So, yeah, you're absolutely right. It did start before Trump. He's just shouting louder and louder about it than his predecessors.

Is it really "radical" to want people to be treated humanely, and to expect that they have the OPPORTUNITY to LEGALLY immigrate into the USA? I agree (as do most "lefties") that illegal immigration is bad. The problem is not that Trump isn't opening the borders, it's that he is blatantly closing all options to come to the USA and APPLY for legal entry. He has even threatened to "close the border permenantly".
That’s simply not true ... and, No you don’t. You don’t agree at all, because if you did, you would naturally understand that the process for LEGAL entry into the United States remains in place, and has been there all along. Trump has done nothing to alter or prohibit the legal process for entering the United States. What Trump has done is nothing more than to order our Law Enforcement folks to do their god damned jobs .... to actually enforce the laws we have governing immigration, and protect YOU .... something that Obama refused to do, which only encouraged more to come.

They expect you to allow them to stay ... eat your food ... use your home ... and you DONT GET TO SAY NO .... but you do get to pay all the bills. Of course, you come home, see this gang of strangers have broken down your door and are inside your house. Are you going to say, WELL, HELLO THERE STRANGERS, WELCOME!!! Or, are you going to call the police and say HELP !!! I have these strangers in my home, and they won’t leave!!! And what if the Police tell you ... shame on you ... those poor people have just as much right to a comfortable home as you do ... so you just shut up, and take good care of them ... they have rights too!
You see ... this is the INSANE, IRRATIONAL, AND UNJUSTIFIABLE RESPONSE you are promoting! You want to tell the rest of us that it’s our obligation to welcome strangers breaking into our home .... just so long as it’s NOT YOUR HOME. If you think for one skinny second that these several thousand people simply gathered together on their own, and walked on foot a thousand plus miles to seek asylum.... you’re as dumb as a box of donuts. Freaking trained military personnel can’t march a thousand miles without well organized and sophisticated supply chains and support personnel aiding the voyage ... let alone women toting children.
