The reason given is we are over there to keep them from coming here. After decades that reason doesn't change. We can surrender and accept Islamic Law or we can fight. Where we chose to fight is over there. We prefer that location to here on main street.

IOW, the same base the CinC who said he'd get us out of Afghanistan operates from although I think he's more of a KFC delivered by the SS fan.

It is a perpetual war, designed to never end. We could end it now by either withdrawing completely, or sending about 4 million troops to secure every square inch of the country, and brutally crack down on any and all dissent. But with the latter, the population has to actually accept defeat...or you will end up locking up or killing every single person in the country.

Well, in the other thread we have people complaining about Trump letting Russia have the Crimea in 2014 so I guess it's fair to say that Bush was never in Afghanistan and it started with Obama....lol.

We’re there because a lot of troops, civilians, contractors, and locals are getting paid to be there. A business that creates jobs, in this case warfare, is a business that’s hard to give up.

As a veteran, everything comes down to moola. War is not an exception. RIP to those on the frontline who made to ultimate sacrifice.
