Gov. Rick Scott suspend Brenda Snipes, Broward County’s election supervisor.

Scott said Snipes was suspended from office for misfeasance, incompetence and neglect of duty.

Read the executive order, Gov. Scott gives a long list of all the misconduct of Brenda Snipes.

“After a series of inexcusable actions, it’s clear that there needs to be an immediate change in Broward County and taxpayers should no longer be burdened by paying a salary for a Supervisor of Elections who has already announced resignation.”

After Election Day, Snipes’ office failed to regularly update the state’s system with ballot totals as required by law. Instead, Broward began uploading tens of thousands of votes — sometimes in the middle of the night.

“The Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes has a history of acting in bad faith,”

The Guv can suspend an elected official?

If he has that power, or anything close to it, Snipes would be the ideal candidate to use it on.

But does he?

It is legal under the state constitution.

Bush did the same to her predecessor in 2003, obviously that didn't work either.

She was still in office and was not scheduled to leave until January 4, 2019. Her term expires November 2020. Peter Antonacci will now serve out the remainder of that term.
