#MeToo has consequences. The above article is mostly about the finance industry, but it certainly applies elsewhere as well - high tech, biotech, fin tech, etc.
Relatively senior men adopt rules in light of #MeToo across industries. Common rules includes:
[*]No more dinners with female colleagues. [*]Don’t sit next to female colleagues on flights. [*]Book hotel rooms on different floors. [*]Avoid one-on-one meetings without a 3rd person (secretary) and only in open areas (company cafeteria)
In fact, as one wealth adviser put it, just hiring a woman these days is “an unknown risk.” What if she took something he said the wrong way?
Interviews with more than 30 senior executives suggest many are spooked by #MeToo and struggling to cope. “It’s creating a sense of walking on eggshells,” said David Bahnsen, a former managing director at Morgan Stanley who’s now an independent adviser overseeing more than $1.5 billion.
This of course has profound implications for women's careers - everyone needs senior mentors to help you climb the corporate ladder, and far too many senior would-be-mentors find the downside risk to mentoring young up-and-coming women to be too great.
This is not good for our economy in the long term.
Women can mitigate this by applying pressure to false accusers and ensuring they are held responsible for their lies.
Is anyone going to protest that Christine Ford get indicted? Last I checked the Feds found her story not only uncorroborated but INCONSISTENT and determined the likelihood of Kavanaugh even meeting her was slim to none
When Men see their reputations can't be tarnished by a simple accusation then maybe things will change.
I'm a woman and agree that #MeToo caused these consequences. Men are smart to start being careful and not go to dinner with female colleagues etc. It's a shame but unfortunately, there are two different types of women in the workplace and a man doesn't know which woman is going to cause trouble. Some women think nothing of jokes and locker room talk and flirting and a little touchy feely whereas other women get offended over a simple compliment. If I were a man, I wouldn't bother with women again in the workplace. Treat all of them the same. Insist on written company policies to spell out appropriate behavior by both genders. Not only should men toe the line in the workplace but women need to behave too. That means--ladies, no more putting your hands all over your favorite male bud, giving him back rubs, making suggestive jokes, sending him suggestive jokes on email (that was done by a woman at my old job), wearing provocative clothing...If I were a man, I would definitely insist on appropriate clothing choices for women in the workplace and I would complain if a woman continues to wear provocative clothing. Why not?
The “rules” are already in place. This is really ironic that some men think it’s new. There have been policies and trainings for a couple of decades now. If the only way those types of men can avoid acting inappropriately is to run and hide when they see a woman coming, then what a relief it will be that women don’t have to deal with them.
As for the warnings that “no more help for you women climbing the ladder” ok...? That’s what most were trying to avoid. There are still plenty of men and women in position to mentor who don’t have to bring sex and harassment to work.
How did I make it through over 30 years in the work force and not have a single issue working with women or have any issues of sexual harrassment?
This hand wringing by execs is the same hysterical nonsense perpetuated by those who would have you believe that there is an epidemic of false rape/sexual harrassment accusations by women in general.
If any of you guys are like me, treated all in the workplace, including women, with the same professional courtesy, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. This is not rocket science folks.
If any of you good old boys feel threatened because you no longer can oggle your female co-workers, make crude, sexist comments and jokes, hit on them, or tell them how sexy they look in their skirts, good. Time to get with the program and live in the 21st century, not the 19th century.

Amen, can't rep you enough.
These policies have been in place for decades.
If these sexist pigs in the workplace can't keep their thoughts to themselves and act professional, that's on them and has NOTHING to do with #metoo# run amok.

I didn't know this was make stuff up day. "Last you checked" you saw no such report. I will go to my grave believing she told the truth, and we have a typical frat bro on the SCOTUS. He wasn't the first and won't be the last.
But what reason in the world would this STANFORD PROFESSOR, this science whiz, have to subject her and her family to death threats, to put herself in the spotlight over this, for any reason other than she had a truth she felt compelled to tell? Oh wait, wait, don't tell me: George Soros got to her. Because, you know, science professors at prestigious universities are eating ramen every night and are that hard up for money.
Many of the MeToo incident were absolutely egregious. With that said, there are serious and real consequences, and men have a right to be extremely cautious, even paranoid.
