I thought the Republicans were supposed to be the fiscally responsible ones? Trump and the GOP have been spending and burning a hole in the govt credit card like drunken sailors.

Quote:
Treasury said federal spending in November was $411 billion, up 18 percent from the same month in 2017, while receipts were $206 billion, down 1 percent compared to November 2017.

The total deficit for the first two months of the current fiscal year has widened 51 percent, to $305 billion, compared to $202 billion in the first two months of the prior fiscal year.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-u...rce=reddit.com

Who knew massive tax cuts blow up budgets and almost never cut the deficit because some mythical unicorn that receipts will increase when consumer spending increases after a tax cut almost never happens at a rate high enough to offset the cost. The GOP has control of the government from top to bottom, yet the deficit is exploding under them. So much for fiscal conservativism...

They are just trying to give the Democrats what they want and you want to be critical of them?

You mean give Democrats more voters next election? If so, you're right, you think Americans would tolerant a hypocritical party like this that claims to be fiscally responsible yet have no clue when it comes to economics?

Bush Sr. left office with a $269 billion budget deficit.
Clinton turned that into a $127 billion surplus.
Bush Jr. handed Obama a $1.4 trillion deficit.
Obama brought that down to just $492 billion.
Trump raised it back up to $833 billion.

Yet conservatives claim to be "fiscally responsible".

What an absolutely rediculous comment.

Congress passes budgets, not Presidents:

Democrat Congress when Bush Sr. left office with a $269 billion budget deficit.
Republican Congress left Clinton with a $127 billion surplus.
Democrat Congress handed Obama a $1.4 trillion deficit.
Republicans brought that down to just $492 billion.

And Democrats still remain clueless about how our government works.

Right, so completely ignore the Iraq war and tax cuts for the rich which tanked our nations fiscal health under Bush....both policies which Republican congress supported...then Democrats come into power....and all of a sudden it's their fault...because...??? (Oh right, because talk radio keep repeating Democrats are big spenders to you over and over, so now it's just fact in your mind, turn that junk off).

And you completely ignore that Republicans are running congress right now and the deficit is skyrocketing.

Exactly.......

Both parties love to cry about debt, but neither side has the guts to do what needs to be done.
