Looks like worker compensation for state and local employees is now above $50 an hour.
Lots of state and local government workers will be retiring in the next decade or two, so they will be paying big pensions plus lots of brand-new workers with big paychecks.
Will be interesting how high the taxes will get in many areas, while the quality of services will likely plummet as they can only hire a very limited amount of employees for those kind of wage scales and they really can choose how productive they want to be as state and local government doesn't need a profit.
I can't even imagine the state and local taxes in a decade when a majority of today's state and local employees are enjoying those pensions which are in many states constitutionally protected and they have their new ultra-expensive replacements with those amazing benefits and pay scales.
Office workers who work for state and local government compensation averages $34 an hour.
In some of the lower cost of living areas of Texas (El Paso, Rio Grande Valley) employers can hire office workers for $10 plus a couple extra dollars for FICA tax, workers comp etc.
College employees average $58 an hour nationwide
The category that included social workers comes in at $44 an hour.
