My dad is two years older than you. He went to Vietnam (unlike you), got wounded, and got a Purple Heart for his trouble.
He had no problem taking care of his kids. He didn't seem to feel his masculinity was threatened by this at all. He was even known to cook us dinner on occasion (granted, it was Hamburger Helper, because his cooking skills were....a bit short, but he at least took the time and trouble to make something.) He just had this weird notion that we were his kids, so he should take an active part in our lives.
But then, I guess unlike you, my dad's confident enough in himself to not have given a damn what people might think.
Oh--also, my dad always did the grocery shopping. He used to drive his mom to the store (she couldn't drive, so the agreement was my dad got the car for date night in exchange for doing this.) Eventually (being impatient and just wanting to get it done and get on with his teenaged life) he just started doing it because he knew what his mom was going to get, and he felt he moved faster without her along. He continued to do it after he and my mom got married. He figures somebody's got to buy the food, doesn't matter who.
I guess some men just aren't as worried as what other men think.
Those men are acting like the wife. They've abdicated their masculinity for an apron and pacifier. They aren't real men anymore.

My father spent far more time raising me and the rest of his kids than my mother did, and we all began working by his side at a young age.
For sure, no one could ever say he was not a 'real man'. Nor were any of the other fathers I knew who did the same, nor I. I spent considerable time raising my 3 kids, doing the same things with mine my Dad did with me.
The absentee father who leaves everything up to his wife and just brings home the paycheck isn't much of a Dad. It's certainly not the masculine way to raise a child, male or female.
Girls need fathering just as much as boys, and a there is nothing feminine about a father's love for his children.
Really- how would Trump even know what taking care of kids is all about? He never got any fathering when he was a kid, and he never fathered his own. He made them, then handed them over to the women in his life and never did much with any of them afterwards.
No Orange Man Bad in this; he isn't the only guy who was never involved in his kid's lives. There are lots of Dads just like him. These days, the game console is the only father there is in many families.
