You're grasping at straws desperately to make this a much bigger deal than it actually is. It's pathetic how much effort you'll put into trying to bash the President and each and every thing he does no matter how insignificant. I watched the video clip, those boys seemed to be having a great time. I didn't see anyone upset about the food.
Actually, I am not one of the main Trump-bashers here, nor did I put much effort into this topic. I just reported the news in my initial post in this thread, only commenting that I first thought this was a spoof such as is found on "Saturday Night Live", since the notion of feeding White House guests fast food was so bizarre.
Trump bashes himself with his behavior, cluelessness, and bad choices. Like this one.
Warren Buffett is anti-Trump, has at least twenty five times the net worth of Trump, yet he shares Trump's penchant for McDonalds, etc.
Doesn't serve it to guests at formal meals, I bet. I have no quarrel with anyone's food preferences for themselves, but it is unseemly to serve fast food to guests at formal meals - particularly by the president, in the White House.
Many of you are knocking the food served. Have you ever compared the calories and nutrition between fast food chain meals versus high end or upscale restaurant meals? Some of those meals have more, sometimes more than double, the calories, fat, and sodium of a fast food value meal of burger, fries, and drink. At our house we eat traditional restaurant food as infrequently as we eat fast food because of the calories and sodium at both types of dining establishments.
The beautiful flowers that usually grace the White House are largely grown for that purpose in a White House greenhouse. In addition to the controversy over the choice of serving fast food to college football champions, there were no flowers on the tables, side tables, mantelpiece or anywhere else as far as the eye can see in the released photos of the event, though the elaborate gold candelabra had new candles which were lit for the occasion. Maybe some of the guests could use them to warm up the cold French fries and burgers...
However, I do agree the offering of the fast food choices was in poor taste. The White House chefs should have been tasked with coming up with a four course meal including a soup or salad, main course meat (beef, poultry, pork, or seafood), fresh baked bread rolls, side course of a rice or pasta dish, and dessert.
If you don't love fast food as a guilty pleasure, you are doing life wrong.
I can take it or leave it. I love me some Chick-fil-A, but McDonald's, Wendy's or Burger King I could go the rest of my life without ever eating there again just fine. I do enjoy some Hardee's every now and then.
I love a good burger as much as the next guy, but none of those places have a good burger. Just overcooked slop.

Most of them are furloughed because of the shutdown. President Trump had to pay for the fast food that was served out of his own pocket. I believe he's also paying for his own meals until the government reopens.

I would be sick if I ate one of those things, lol.
Too used to lean wild game. Fast food makes me vomit.
