It's hard to even fathom how Mitch McConnell can stand there with a straight face and oppose this. Or any of these other Republicans that supposedly represent us. Voter suppression & gerrymandering is the only way Republicans can win now.
Seems the Republicans have forgotten voting is about democracy, not politics.
So, just now it is all about the Republicans? What about the last 100 years when no one from either party ever passed such a thing? What about the Democrats when they controlled the presidency and Congress under Obama, why did they not pass such a thing?

This is a no-brainer.
Except magically, absent of the influence of gerrymandering, the Republicans retained the Senate.
What voter suppression? Please show where voters were suppressed.
Clearly mitch is smart enough to understand that :
1. Most dems work during the week
And
2. Most Republicans are rich (enough to get the time needed) and / or retired, or on welfare, esp in rural states. These groups don't need an election holiday to turn out.
The same mentality is the reasoning why many Republican governors have tried to limit early voting and voting on college campuses (youngers voters skew liberal)

The last 100 years are history. TODAY republicans have the opportunity to do something positive and TODAY republicans are failing.

Care to share your statistics that Republicans are on welfare? You're very mistaken in that assertion and in fact, those on welfare are apolitical liberals. If the Democrats could get them to turn out, they would be a boom for that party.
Links?
There is very little recent evidence on this, but this link shows a few polls showing that welfare are overwhelmingly apolitical Democrat leaning.
The myth that Republicans are on welfare is one perpetuated by the so called main stream media.

The fallacy in the articles you link is that they highlight that many welfare recipients live in so called Red States. What they fail to understand and highlight is that those welfare recipients are Democrats or Democrats leaning individuals who are mostly apolitical living within Red States - i.e. blacks and the white underclass.

Sounds like pure speculation to me. Do you have a link to some actual statistics to support your counterpoint?
