Putting myself in their sleazy shoes for just a minute, I would be a huge advocate of single-payer because I could drop all the health insurance benefits that I currently must provide to my employees.
Why should I pay for health insurance when I can dump this operating expense on the tax payers?
I would also support free trade with low-wage third-world countries so that I could crash wages in the US, and I would also support effectively open borders for the same reason.
You need to go back to work or find other ways to spend your time because conspiracy theories is an awful way to waste your retirement. Do I think the media is politically influencing the public, of course I do and they always have. What is different now is that most of the "media" goes into journalism for different reasons than in the past. In the past people went into journalism with a passion for the truth and the thrill of pursuing truth. Now it seems, people go into journalism as another means of driving their ideology and agenda and truth is just a quaint notion.
The mass media is the propaganda arm of the Democrats. They hype the bad and bury the good. They skew poll results in favor of their narrative and they report what is considered news with a bias bordering on opinion and not facts.
It really is fake news but that is what their base loves. They live for the Trump bashing headlines and snippets of news and they don't care about the broader story.
Case in point it was reported that Trump gassed children at the border. It took a bit of digging to understand that a group had stormed the fences and the border agents had to use tear gas to repel them and the wind carried the gas towards kids. What reads better in a Lefty world, "Border agents use tear gas on violent invaders" or "Trump gasses kids" ?
One does have to wonder what the media would be reporting on if Hillary had won considering how terrific, truthful and scandal free she was... Like it or not Trump is good for ratings and ratings is MONEY.
Some of the news outlets owe the fact that they are still in business to Trump.

Maybe because he brings on all of his own problems ! Mr. Big Shot had to come into office and attack everything and everyone is sight, including the press. Plus, he is simply an idiot, and they are just reporting what they see.
Why does the media continue to bash the President? Could it be because of all the stupid things he says and tweets every day? Could it be because of Trump continuing to bully those who oppose him? Could it be because of the continuing lies that he tells on a daily basis? Probably all of the above.
