Wasn't Lorena Bobbitt the perpetrator of domestic violence? John Bobbitt was the victim. Why is it that when a woman attacks a man she is still counted as the victim?

John Bobbitt was found not guilty of rape. Lorena Bobbitt was only found not guilty because of a bogus insanity defense.

He's lucky to have gotten it back. And he went into massive debt with medical and legal bills. $250,000.

I hope the assailant had to pay for those medical bills.

Can you imagine the outrage if a man had cut off a woman's breast?

Women would be blowing up on any man who dared joke about that... but they have no problem laughing about a man's penis being cut off.

Yeah, and R. Kelly is hoping the recent documentary on him sheds some light on pedophilia.

The jokes that went on constantly about this when it happened showed a lot about gender in America. Its okay to make jokes about a man getting his penis cut off. Just TRY to make a joke about a woman being mutilated, especially her genitalia, and see the explosion of outrage and people in disbelief that someone could be so cruel. Tables turned, haha he got his dick cut off, probably deserved it hahaha.

Violence against men is okay. If a man slaps a woman in a movie or on TV, the man is playing the role of an abusive loser who is meant to be loathed. If a woman slaps a man, the man deserved it and she was just showing that women are strong and setting the man straight.

Do you think we can ever change that attitude? Men are far more often the victims of violence than woman, but all we hear about is how oppressed women are.

Lorena Bobbitt hopes documentary will shed light on domestic violence

Well she is speaking from personal experience kind of like when a former alcoholic gets up at an AA meeting to be a voice of reason, an example to others that are struggling. They say things like "no matter how bad you feel don't turn to drink because it will only make matters worse". Bobbitt might say something like "no matter how bad you feel don't cut off your husbands wee wee".

I think that is good advice no matter how you look at it.

Violence and oppression are two different things, and violence and domestic violence also are two different things.
