West Virginia pays delegates $20,000. a year. Most real people can't take off 3 months of the year to sit in Charleston for $20k so you pretty much need to be rich or retired to be in the state legislature.
No, they arent rich, they just get lobbyist jobs once they win. At least, thats how it is here in Alabama.

They win the election, and then they get hired as a recruiter by one of the major companies in the area or professor in politics at a university or something like there where they dont have to have normal hours or can work on the weekends.

I'd take that fat, blind, holy-roller up to the top of a WV moutain and lead him to the edge and tell him there was a $100 dollar bill about ten feet in front of him. If he went for it, I could smile and tell his mourners that he flew home to GEEESUS!

The true colors of the Republican Party right here. Not only are gays terrorists and equivalent to the KKK, but he would drown his own children with a smile on his face if they were to come out. Is this really the party of Jesus?
How many gays could there be in WV?? Otherwise, how many parents would actually be happy if they knew that their child was gay? Given a choice, most parents would prefer their children to be heterosexual... except maybe gay and lesbian couples who were raising children.

But come to think of it, straight parents of children can't choose whether their children will be ALL straight. I heard of a family in my town where all 4 children turned out gay, except for 1 girl. Give such parents a break and don't hate their children. In another family in my town, there were two children, one male and one female. They both turned out GAY. The girl as a child would play football at the park with the neighborhood boys. The boy would rather stay inside, make clothes for his Barbie dolls and dress them.

Well, no, the Republican Party is the party of moral insanity, especially among the members who want all abortion banned and are against all equal rights for gays.

You find one crackpot from nowhere saying something crazy and say that they represent "...the true colors of the Republican Party..."

I have worked for a Republican governor and a Republican Congressman, later a United States Senator. Both were very progressive on LGBT issues and supported same-sex marriage and civil unions long before it was popular.

In case you haven't noticed, LGBT issues have largely dropped off of the conservative policy agenda. These aren't salient issues anymore, and they were always wedge issues used to drive certain parts of the Republican base.

I would also remind everyone that in 2016 Paypal billionaire and conservative intellectual Peter Thiel became the second openly gay person to address a Republican National Convention, and Thiel was the first speaker to address his own homosexuality. The supposedly anti-gay candidate Donald Trump made sure that Peter Thiel was given a primetime slot for his speech. That's the Republican Party that I know.

It could backfire on the guy.
The kids might like sucking in some of that water and survive.
Then they could try it on everything else and find out they are gay.
50/50 are the odds I give it at best.

You really think that someone who is basically calling for his own children to be drowned is representative of entire political party?

It's Mercer county. Mercer county is a world of it's own.

I'm watching the state legislation now where there was an amendment offered to take marijuana off the schedule one list. The argument against that came from Mercer county.

Waiting on the vote.........I doubt the (R)'s will pass it. I have to chuckle with the hypocritical arguments against it.
