I know I shouldn't engage in your daily CA thread, but do we not believe in free markets anymore? There's a reason people are willing to pay high prices in Oakland and why a house in TX is only worth so much per sq ft.

Exactly. I hate to engage as well, but the Bay area is the wealthiest place in the country by far Oakland is in the dead center of the bay area. Not sure why logically speaking it doesn't make sense for prices to be high? I'd pick Oakland over anything in Texas.
