San Antonio: The world famous Riverwalk, Olmos Park, lush hills year round, lots of warm winter days.

Oakland: sky-high violent crime rates, homeless encampments, poop, urine, hypedermic needles, mayor who tips of criminals before they are about to be arrested

Wow, 12 times the price per square foot in Oakland as opposed to El Paso and no state income tax in Texas as opposed to a confiscatory 10.3% income tax for the $55,000th dollar of income in California

I know I shouldn't engage in your daily CA thread, but do we not believe in free markets anymore? There's a reason people are willing to pay high prices in Oakland and why a house in TX is only worth so much per sq ft.

Exactly. I hate to engage as well, but the Bay area is the wealthiest place in the country by far Oakland is in the dead center of the bay area. Not sure why logically speaking it doesn't make sense for prices to be high? I'd pick Oakland over anything in Texas.

Umm...that is not a mansion. It's a big house, and someone had a good decorator, but it is in no way what I would call a mansion.

Prices vary. Compare a Park Ave. Condo in NYC to similar square footage in say ….. Bismarck SD. Its real estate. Supply and demand. Call it mocking if you like.

A vast majority of Americans would be pooping and urinated in the streets if they moved to LA, San Francisco, Oakland, San Diego or Orange County.

Honestly, though I have been in California many times and the only major city I liked was Bakersfield and Barstow is a wonderful city.

I have no idea why people want to do things like this. Insecurity I suppose.

Yeah, it's common sense that not everyone can afford the best places in the country.
