If someone wishes the world could be again in an Amish state, so what? Why should they get flack and be demonized? I mean we are becoming the extreme opposite of an Amish society, a society that heavily relies on technology and kills the appetite of actually doing things
Btw I don't have this view myself, I think technology should keep progressing, but it shouldn't have to be forced upon people who also want to be old fashioned about it.
We like to look so much into the good of technology, we never look into the negatives lol
We humans are way more capable of a lot of work our technology is performing for us
First off not everyone's going to agree with you. If one has such extreme views it shouldn't matter that other people oppose their views as they've at some point come to the conclusion that these opinions are acceptable despite others defiance.
New technology is exciting even if it only adds to societies problems In the grand scheme of things. I think this also boils down to a young vs old thing as well.

A big reason for people who aren't fans of tech changes getting a lot of flack: big corporations with a lot of money to market their products and a lot of money invested in tech are the biggest pushers of new technology. They have to convince people they actually want and need things that didn't exist before their product came along.
Those who don't like it are a threat to their profits. Much easier to marginalize them as neo-luddites for not falling in line and jumping up and down for their latest gadget that most people could easily live without. Remember, we are a consumer society, and if we aren't consuming more and more stuff, it makes things hard for those trying to figure out how to shove more consumerism into everyone's life.

Bruh, you're forgetting America is still like 50% rural area, America has only been an increasingly consumerist society really since well the late 90s. The effect of consumerism has only become more noticeable in hi tech urban areas though.

How so? What people are being forced to embrace technology they don't want?

So the satellite dishes, people using smart phones, hi-tech cars, GPS steered tractors, et al that are commonly seen in rural areas are just mirages?

The Amish is the only exception to the rule of thumb
Really? Have you looked the education system? Have you look at the way we apply for jobs now? Have you looked at the fact that cars are increasingly electronic? Everything has to be gadgety one way or the other.

Who, exactly, is "forcing upon people" new technology and who, exactly, is it being forced on?

I don't know where you live, but I never see any of that in the rural area I live by
Midwest, yes?
Maybe some hi tech cars, but everything else is pretty much a pick up from the 20th century
