I have a coworker friend, her son was busted trying to meet an underage girl for sex years ago, he was sent to state prison for 3 years and has to register as a sex offender, he was 19 and living at home when this happened, after he got out, he could not live at home, because they lived by a school, so his parents paid for an apartment until he could find a job.
Surprisingly if you go online, there are lists of companies that will hire ex cons, felons, sex offenders, etc. I was shocked to see some of the companies, they are all big well known companies, he now works for Pepsi, making close to $30 an hour!!
While I agree prison reform is lacking in the US, this particular woman was in jail, not prison. I don't know what she did but it was petty crimes which would be possessing small amounts of drugs, shoplifting, theft, bad checks, prostitution, public drunkenness, simple assault. I'm not so sure desperation drives people to do these things.
True . Very few people in America actually steal to eat .
Especially in Los Angeles there are tons of places people can get food if they can’t afford it .
We would be hearing in the news if people were dying of starvation in this city . This is just virtue signaling and the mayor and local politicians doing what social justice warriors do best .
