I live in Alabama. To be fair, there has been a lot monetary help and actual volunteer work contributed to the Tornado Victims of Lee County by churches both large and small here in Alabama and Georgia. This goes on after pretty much all the natural disasters that have occurred here.
A lot of times the work get gets done without the need for publicity. Just say’in.
The article makes no mention of "mega churches". This is simply your own thinly veiled attack against Christians. They seem to be the liberals punching bag of choice.
This is a wonderful thing the casino did. It is very humanitarian and will reap excellent business returns, as it should. People support businesses that support the communities they serve.
No it doesn’t. However you don’t hear anything about them helping either. If they were helping they would be bragging about it.
I have no words to express how disgusting it is for so-called religious people to ask someone to autograph a Bible and for a president of the United States not to know how inappropriate it was to comply. All he had to do is say, "That's a holy book, I can't write on that. Do you have something else I can autograph?"
The true Christian acts to come out of the news cycle down there is what the Native Americans tribe is doing to help the victims of the tornadoes.
you might consider stepping back from your righteous indignation long enough to think about your feelings on gambling. I'm pretty sure Jesus was opposed to it.

“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound the trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have the reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” Matthew 6:1-3 nkjv
I grew up in that church. The officers barely make enough to live, almost every dime they take in goes to help others.
That's a church that I can admire, even if I don't agree with all of its beliefs. I'm tired of people getting rich off of religious service. It seems so perverse.
Good point. People often forget that the Salvation Army is a church.
Actually they deserve alot more respect and acknowledgement than they get today!
They bought an old hospital building around here and turned it into a drug rehab, that was 100% free, to anyone who came, they also have a clothing store on site, that is open to anyone who needs clothing, no charge at all.
In Kansas City Ks, there is a megachurch. The multi-million dollar church building takes up a city block. They buy the preacher a new Mercedes every year. A few blocks away, homeless live under an overpass. They do nothing to help.
