OMG.. A politician not keeping their campaign promises!

He may have lied about being under audit. Although there is no evidence of this. He may not have given much to charity. He may not be worth as much as he claims. Although a tax return will not disclose this. He may have paid very little taxes ... but none of those would be a reason for him to be forced to release his taxes.

the problem is liberfolols cant be trusted

They are only supposed to be requesting them with regard to their oversight responsibilities re how the IRS operates.

This is not that lol.

Instead, its a blatant, obvious attempt to weaponize the IRS in order to politically harass a President they hate.

At the same time, its an erosion of all American's right to privacy with regard to the information provided to the IRS.

One of the cornerstone's of our voluntary tax compliance system is the expectation that info given to the IRS will be kept private.

That is like gospel at the IRS. They aren't going to hand the returns over imo. They will force Congress to go to the Supremes or back off.

It's probably a waste of time trying to figure Trump to release them. Probably won't happen. Law doesn't require it.

But it should. And every person who doesn't think that every candidate for POTUS should be required to release them is careless. This should be a no-brainer.

The IRS is going to release them, if Mnuchin and Rettig are serious about following the law concerning the matter, and if they don't wish to be removed from their jobs and possibly jailed.

Once they do their jobs, Rettig to provide the returns and Mnuchin to shut the hell up and butt out of an affair that is nonoe of his business, it's up to Congress to protect the confidentiality of thoise returns.

It's going to be interesting to see which side really intends to comply wiht the law.

They are requesting the returns as possibly germaine to starting impeachment proceedings, which is certainly in their purview. They have every legal right to pursue the release of the returns to the House Judiciary Committee, which is where such a discussion would take place.

We already know that the Dems in Congress are engaged in a gross abuse of the law for political purposes.
