from that piece:

Quote:
But previously undisclosed purchase reports obtained by the Daily News this week reveal the administration has since issued at least two more bailouts to JBS, even as Trump’s own Justice Department began investigating the meatpacker, whose owners are Joesley and Wesley Batista — two wealthy brothers who have confessed to bribing hundreds of top officials in Brazil.

Both brothers have spent time in jail over the sweeping corruption scandal.
"The sheer size of the payouts stoked outrage from industry watchdogs, who question how subsidizing a deep-pocketed, Brazilian-owned company would help farmers in the American heartland."

“Patriot” Farmers?

What’s with the superfluous adjective here? Farmers are motivated by money...not patriotism.

I’m for the farmer bailouts, but let’s not get too syrupy here. We certainly don’t exalt any other group that has their hands out as much as America’s farmers do.

Accurate 'sans bs' take on the matter.

Lol...I just had to laugh at the description of farmers as as patriots!!

This nation puts billions of dollars per year in the pockets of farmers, which I have no problem with. It’s better than spending it in Afghanistan. But now I have to endure a bunch of blather now about farmers being patriots on top of it???

Nah..I don’t think so. Miss me with that crap.

The thread title is lame and only meant to inflame as opposed to induce a discussion but there is a valid complaint here.

Agree. The term ‘conservative farmer’ is an oxymoron in my book.

It might be more helpful to 'move past' or 'get over it' re: the thread title & get on with meaningful discussion. Carry on.

Don't start off a thread poorly. If there is a valid complaint, and there is here, hyperbole is not required.
