Team Trump’s bellicose tweets and public statements in the last few days could expose the president to fresh charges of witness intimidation and obstruction of justice.

Team Trump’s bellicose tweets and public statements in the last few days are potentially exposing Trump to fresh charges of witness intimidation, obstruction of justice and impeding a congressional investigation — not to mention giving lawmakers more fodder for their presidential probes — according to Democrats and legal experts.

This is risky,” said William Jeffress, a prominent Washington defense attorney who represented President Richard Nixon after he left the White House. “I find it surprising because he’s taking these shots at witnesses who gave information to Mueller, and I think he’s got to be careful because there’s an explicit federal statute punishing retaliation against witnesses.”

It’s a lesson some thought Trump would have learned during the Mueller investigation.

But Trump and his lawyers haven’t hit the mute button.

The president has tweeted about the Russia probe more than 50 times since last Thursday’s release of a redacted version of the Mueller report. And attacks in recent days have turned forcefully against McGahn, who is mentioned more than 500 times in the Mueller report and who delivered damaging testimony about Trump’s attempts to shut down the Russia investigation. The White House signaled Thursday they’d invoke executive privilege to block the Democrats’ subpoena for McGahn, and Chairman Jerry Nadler swung back that the move “represent[s] one more act of obstruction by an Administration desperate to prevent the public from talking about the President’s behavior.

At this point both sides need to drop this and move on. If not it’s going to make them look foolish.

The Democratic lead Congress has an obligation within their oath to move forward with hearings and go where it leads so what is up with your idea that we should allow rule of law and oversight to be pissed on?

Congress isn't a law enforcement body. You can't get charged with obstruction of justice when dealing with them. The ONLY thing you could ever be charged with is perjury for lying under oath.

You are OK with illegal aliens existing illegally in our country and obtaining driver's licenses and voting in elections.

The law is still wet from prior urination...

Law enforcement as in being arresting officers of the law?
Nope. Congress doesn't have that power.

But they have the U.S. Marshal's Office to do that for them. Congress can command a marshal to arrest someone and bring him to hearings, and the guy will be arrested.

The U.S. Justice Dept. is Congress' other enforcement arm.

Since when does an oath trump the rule of law? Riddle me that. The law is pissed on by Dems who refuse to accept Trump won. No collusion or obstruction under the law by Trump. The only collusion and obstruction under the law was done by Dems/FBI/DOJ and Intel community under Obama.

The Mueller report very precisely and distinctly provided a road map for the pursuit of hearings and impeachment. Mueller punted the next move to Congress and Congress needs to move their butts and grow a pair...IT IS THEIR OBLIGATION.

It’s time for Republicans to lead the hitting back, the cowards could of never stood up to the heat Trump has faced. One thing is for certain, someone needs to find answers to why intelligence officials and media duped a large amount of our country into Russian collusion hysteria for 2 and 1/2 years

Every Trump fan is wishing that were true but the opposite is. The truth will come out at hearings and as scathing as the redacted report was, the actual unredacted report will bury him.
