The First Step Act is a hard act to follow but President Trump has done it again with Second Chance Hiring. This program to get ex-prisoners back to work was spearheaded by Jared and Ivanka working with Sec. of Labor Acosta. For today's announcement, in addition to ex-cons who told their stories of success, was the CEO of Goodwill Industries which hires ex-cons and surprise guest Kim Kardashian who, after advocating for Alice Johnson's pardon, wants to help others become productive members of the community. She has been going to law school and works as an assistant to two attorneys. Trump joked she is the highest paid assistant in the world!

Bonus: Unexpected announcement by Trump that Sarah Sanders would be leaving as press secretary. Very sweet moment and you can see they like and respect each other, which makes fake news media hate them both even more!

This is beautiful to see! Of course, the MSM didn't make this front page news, and instead focused on Huckabee-Sanders leaving as if it was some scandal . I am not surprised by that.

Oh, gee, this reminds me that I was going to post an interesting article about what a farce Trump's First Step has been - that it's helping almost no one.

The Second Chance Act passed with bipartisan support and was signed by Bush 2 in 2008. Since then the Federal Government has granted $695.2 million in grants:

There is an 80 year old exemption to Fair Labor Laws that allows employers to pay as low as $1/ hr to disabled employees. The Federal Government and some states issue tax credits to businesses who hire disabled people.

Each Goodwill Store is an individual not for profit. Some store CEOs earn $ hundreds of thousands while disabled employees make a fraction of Minimum Wage.

This sounds like nonsense. While we can quibble about who is picking up the tab in some cases, I will never believe that disabled employees are lawfully earning a fraction of the minimum wage.
