Some of my black coworkers were shocked to learn that the black population was around 12% of the population.
Now of course around here they are much more and they simply assumed that was a constant throughout the country.
The media might aid in that perception, but it seems more likely that folks just don't bother to really think much about it all that much. Most people of all shades and backgrounds do not conduct even rudimentary statistical analysis in their heads.
They are some stupid black people lol. I lived in majority black cities for a large part of my adulthood (as a child and now I live in a city that is about 25% black).
Anyone who is a black adult over 25 and doesn't know that black people are about 12-14% of the population of the USA are stupid people who live in a vacuum.
I can understand them not knowing about the hispanic or gay population, but most black people know the black population that I've lived around.
They also probably just don't pay attention to anything outside of their circle. Similar to the stupid black people I know who think a majority of black parents are poor and live in the ghetto or are uneducated or don't read books lol. Lots of stupid a black people in America. No different than all the stupid a other people in America.
