300,000 kids is about 1/2 of 1% of the 56 million school age children in the US. So if my property taxes increased by 1/2 of 1% that would be about $25 extra per year. I think that is money well spent to enrich the lives of 300,000 children.
That's dividing by everyone in the country, and that's not how it works. Some jurisdications have large percentages of illegal immigrants in their school system, with the property taxes rising quite noticeably.
Are you suggesting that the cost for illegals in school be spread equally across the board? Because that would make sense rather than have citizens of "illegal immigrant counties*" pay the lion's share of the expenses.
*illegal immigrant counties are counties where large populations of illegal immigrants reside, such as in the town adjacent to me. Certain areas are almost 100% illegal immigrants, and the school ratings - a 3 - reflect it.
Most illegal immigrants don't expect freebies or expect to be supported by other people. Most of them are hard working and try to fly under the radar, they aren't anxious to apply for any benefits because they don't want their immigration status to be discovered.
On the contrary. All these illegal parents are expecting Americans to pick up the tab for educating and even feeding their children... and later on, when their children grow up, their adult children (with their college degrees) to be taking jobs away from our American youth.
Illegals are purely "takers", they are parasites feeding off of our country's greatness.
so president and congress person are expected to arrest people now???
its already illegal to hire illegals.... its already illegal to work off the books
and yet liberals embrace illegals, tell LEO's to NOT cooperate with INS, and never pursue employers paying people (illegal or not) under the table
so what do you expect??? do you want Nazi type rats, who turn in people to the Gestapo???
What I expect is for them to quit playing games and pass laws calling for a prison term for anyone who hires someone who is not authorized to work in the US, no excuses, no claiming they didn't know...they can vet the people they hire just like people are vetted for other positions, they don't have to wink, look the other way and accept a badly counterfeited social security card as proof of citizenship. It's appalling that you aren't disturbed by that, but it tells me that you don't give a hoot about fixing the problem, you just want to blame "liberals".
As far as 'not pursuing people who work under the table': The investigation of matters concerning immigration law is the responsibility of the federal government not local or state LE agencies, and that the senate and presidency are being run by Republicans? And if you took the time to read up on it you would realize that all law enforcement agencies would honor ICE holds 'IF' they were legal detention orders but they aren't they are a 'request to detain' and do not have the force of law. Many jurisdictions have been sued and forced to pay damages for detaining people on ICE holds, and many state and federal courts have ruled that holding a person on an ICE detainer is unconstitutional.

Even you will need someone to wipe your butt when you get old and it's very unlikely that a citizen would willingly perform that task, so be careful about what you wish for
I'm very glad these illegals are pursuing higher education.
They have no right to even be in this country much less taking up college seats that should go to our citizen's kids. Let them get an education in their own countries.
we have immigrants in our schools here, and somehow we're managing okay
my property taxes haven't caused me to cancel any vacations either
You're deliberately blurring the lines between legal immigrants and illegal aliens. Let me educate you --- the former obeyed our immigration laws and patiently awaited their turn to come here. The latter has no business being here and needs to leave.
Well...lucky you! You live somewhere that has low property taxes and hardly any illegal aliens. You've never seen what happens when an area experiences a huge growth spurt, which means you've never seen the deleterious effects of illegal immigration up close and personal.
So...why haven't you moved several illegals into your own home? Since you're "managing okay", then you have the resources to support them out of your own pocket.
If undocumented children were not permitted to go to public schools, almost no one would bring children to the United states unlawfully. We would just have adult workers coming, and they would leave their children in their home country.
It's galling that illegal aliens get a free K-12 education off the backs of the taxpayers. Many people are not aware of this but when foreign exchange students come to study in the US and live with a host family, the exchange student has to pay tuition to go to a public school. That's grossly unfair considering illegals, who have no business being here, get a free public school education but someone who obeys our immigration laws has to pay when they come as an exchange student
It's their parent's responsibility to feed them not the taxpayer, duh. Quit playing games like we just object to kids eating!
Why are you so evil, you don't want kids to eat?! /sarcasm
