Politics is a weird animal. One would think that with the way the Dems attack the rich and want to tax them out of the country that the Hampton crowd would tell them to take a hike but no.
It really makes one question just who the Democrats are working for?
Democrats work for the people and groups who give them campaign money. And democrats get campaign money from liberal billionaires, labor unions, and environmental groups.
Billionaires like Gates and Buffet like doing charity work. For example, Gates and Buffet helped save the lives of 122 million people in poor countries, and their democrat politicians in Washington will support things like welfare, food stamps, and free cell phones for the poor (the same things Gates and Buffet desire in their charity work.). https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...fant-mortality
And labor unions made up of teachers, plumbers, carpenters, and electricians give democrats $100's of millions of dollars. And for this money democrats support high min wages, healthcare for all, middle class tax cuts, small business tax cuts, small business aid, lowering student loan interest rates, and lowering credit card interest rates (things that help the union members.) https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/list.php
Republicans on the other hand get all their major campaign money from conservative billionaires and large corporations. And these groups want CEO tax cuts, corporate tax cuts, and corporate deregulation (the things republicans support.)

I find it hard to believe that the likes of Apple, Google and Amazon give their donation money to Republicans.

Certainly the employees do give much more to dems, but the corporations...not so much. You're not alone in being hoodwinked.
Quote:
Amazon’s PAC donated the most of the bunch, giving more than a million dollars to individual Democratic and Republican candidates during this midterm cycle so far. It gave 52 percent of that to Republicans and 48 percent to Democrats.
Quote:
As a whole, more than half of PAC donations to candidates by tech companies went to Republicans this election cycle. Compare that with the more than 85 percent of donations by internet company employees going to Democrats.
But most of the republicans campaign money comes from the Koch brothers corporate network. In 2016 the Koch network set a goal to give republican politicians $889 million dollars. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...ntial-election
All the Democrats say is that the wealthy should pay their fair share. That is why Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and many others support Democrats, among other reasons. Even these billionaires realize the system is rigged in their favor and have sought to balance things out.
What does 'pay their fair share' mean?
They already file 70% of income tax revenue for the government. They are the government.
Giving them more tax responsibility just makes them more powerful.
The problem is corporate wealth, not a lack of social responsibility. Rich men like Gates and Buffet are playing you.
This is true. Both parties have sold their souls to the wealthy. It does not mean however, that there are not differences between the parties.
Take the Citizens United case. Conservatives applaud that case though it opened the flood gates to dark money in politics. That case was decided 5-4 with the conservatives siding with unlimited dark money in our election process.
So, the Democrat's big labor money laundering machine is OK?
Not many Republican supporters in the Hamptons. Probably NONE. Safe territory for far left, progressive, anti American Democrats.
Yeah, and? Republicans get their money from their sources. I don’t see you having a problem with that, why is that?
Personally, I find it gross that any money is involved in election campaigns. That is the definition of bought & sold & should have no business in elections.
