It is interesting how much the country spends on education and has such terrible results.

No matter how much they spend it won't change. There is nearly half of the children in America who are being raised by parents who don't even know how to take of themselves and have absolutely had no business having children. No spending spree allocated to teachers will change the horrible upbringings a record number of children have today because their parents had children because they know the hardworking taxpayer will pay the bill.

What sort of tangible result is Kamala Harris hoping for with a $13,500 teacher pay increase?

It's amazing how the Democrats are proposing anything and everything to micro-groups in a desperate attempt to manipulate people into voting for their insane agenda that would cause America to become like Greece with-in a presidential term if they fully implemented their plans.

Having people pay lots and lots of their hard-earned money for failed schools in many cities and states is one thing, but having the federal government take on lots and lots of debt to appeal to the powerful teachers unions is another.

Kamala Harris proposed it and now Elizabeth Warren is going on a twitter-fest also.

Teachers have an incredible hard job and they aren't paid enough for what they do. And there is a shortage of teachers because of this. Increasing their pay is the right thing to do.

Less than what it costs to finance Trump's golf (110 million and counting)...You pay for that too you know.

These bribes are getting ridiculous. The thing is....teachers are going to vote for the Dem anyway.

And let's not fool ourselves into thinking all teachers are so underpaid. Two of my friends were teachers, earning in the 90s with July and August off. They both went to Europe every single summer.

Good for her. $13,500 is a nice start, but I'd like to see a higher pay increase considering the impact teachers have and the demands of their job.

Teachers in most parts of the country, particularly in red states, are vastly underpaid.

In a way, they are the custodians of our people's future. Neglect the teachers, neglect the community, neglect the state, neglect the future.

And will ALL teachers get a $13,000 raise? Even the ones earning in the 90s for 10 months' work a year? And whose taxes will be raised to bring these teachers up to $110,000 - the middle-class earner making $50,000 with two weeks off?

What state? Teachers make half that amount here in Wisconsin, starting around $40k. Maybe if you stay for 20 years at the same school you'll crack $50k, but that's hard to do in todays education climate.

Many vote republican as well. If your friends earn in the 90's then they have been there for many, many years. It's a scale system for pay.
