It would be nice to know the barista's side of the story regarding this. I am not going to automatically side with the person who may or may not be a victim in a story like this when we are going off of just what they say!
I've heard many strange and exotic names. If a girl was to tell me her name is Isis my first thought would not be "OMG-You're named after a terrorist organization?". In fact, I'm willing to bet that there are at least 100 or more people living in the world today with that as their first name.
Theirs actually millions. As a name with origins in various societies especially Egyptian/Greek/Roman mythology their are tons of people who are and were named ISIS before the leader of it was even born.
He should do what I do, tell the baristas "Hi, I'm Sam". Never have to worry about misspelled names again, also I've discovered that no one waiting for an order is named 'Sam', even better
Legal action because Ameircans are uneducated? Is he going to sue the school system?
Education has nothing to do with it, the person simply heard the name and spelled it out how it sounded, simply as that.
Numerous college professors have misspelled and mispronounced my wife's name, and a few with my stupidly simple anglo name, does not make any of them uneducated obviously.
Isis is the dog's name on Downton Abbey. Dude needs to get his panties out of his crack.
