Thomas Hofeller, head data analyst for the Republican Party—
2nd most because he is dead now but his work lives on in the GOP’s gerrymandering science that was so successful in the past 10+ yrs...
This is a New Yorker article re Thomas Hofeller and his daughter Stephanie’s estrangement and his dedication to gerrymandering...
He was a total control freak—

There is new New Yorker article as well about his gerrymandering skills as captures in personal emails and data files...
https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-...gerrymandering

You can Google him and find plenty of articles about his influence over the decades
He was the Czar of data analysis for gerrymandering
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/thoma...b0aab91c056d7c

Now he is dead—
So he can’t be called to testify in any lawsuits but his words can speak for themselves
They are pretty indicative that race was a primary factor used to create pro-GOP districts —not wealth or education or other interests like gun ownership or sex or abortion views or even religious affiliation...

Of course the GOP doesn’t want to acknowledge that because it shows a racial bias going back decades—
Long before Trump became more strident and visible...

In fact, this quote is from the article about Hofeller and his daughter Stephanie. She thinks her father was more a “classist” than a “racist.” ButShe also maintains that, before she became estranged from him, her father talked with her about redistricting in North Carolina, and about something that he “found difficult to manage in his clients,” which “he would avoid explicitly defining.” In the case of the North Carolina legislators, she said, “It was a twofold problem. One, this tendency to wear racism out and proud, which would shine the light on what he was trying to obfuscate. And, two, the tendency to get greedy

So he would have preferred the GOP to wear a mask that pretended to be democratic/non-racist on the surface all the while working below the surface to gerrymander districts to create unfair representation of minority voters...

And Hofeller was not a Trump supporter—he viewed him as an outlier vs a true Republican conservative...but Trump still benefitted from Hofeller’s gerrymandering efforts (and Putin’s propaganda ones)...
