Just heard on the local TV news channel. No details yet. Possibly more than one shooter, possibly more than one site (two different towns?) No reports of actual killings (yet), thank God. But reports of many injured.

The TV newsreader said that "some people" were a little upset that Congress is on vacation while something like this is happening, and that govt is "doing nothing to help".

Where do they get the idea that government can do anything to stop or prevent shootings like this? Every law govt has passed so far, in decade after decade, does nothing to reduce the number of mass shootings, number of murders etc.

Are we going to go through the same weary cycle of demanding background checks, waiting periods, assault weapons bans, and on and on? Things that have already been tried again and again, and.... well, you see the results. They just keep happening regardless, and even seem to be getting worse or more frequent.

Why demand them again?

From the UK Sun:

---------------------------------------------

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/983837...ire-in-odessa/

Thirty people have been injured as two depraved mass shooters are ACTIVE in Texas tonight, it has been reported.

Local cops have said that terrified locals have been shot in the city of Odessa and neighbouring Midland although there is no confirmation on any casualties.

Midland Police said that shooters in two separate vehicles - a small Toyota truck and a Postal van - are carrying out the attack.

One of the suspects is reportedly at a Home Depot in Odessa while another is believed to be at a Cinergy cinema in Midland.

According to CBS News, a Texas state trooper is among those who have been shot. His condition is unknown.

1 dead, at least 10 wounded in shootings in Odessa, Texas, police say

Updated 5:54 PM ET, Sat August 31, 2019

(CNN)There is an active shooting situation going on in the area between the cities of Midland and Odessa, Texas, according to Devin Sanchez, a spokesman for the City of Odessa.

There are 10 confirmed injuries, possibly up to 20 injured, Sanchez said. There is one person confirmed dead, he said. One of those shot is a law enforcement officer, but it is unclear if the officer is injured or dead, Sanchez said.

Sanchez said there is a person in a gold Toyota driving around shopping centers and shooting people from his vehicle. The area is near 32nd and 191, on the east side of Odessa.

Midland Police Department put on their Facebook page, "We believe there are two shooters in two separate vehicles. One suspect is believed to be at the Cinergy in Midland and the other is believed to be driving on Loop 250 in Midland. The two vehicles in question are: gold/white small Toyota truck and a USPS Postal Van. Please stay away from these areas and stay indoors."

Sounds like they're just riding around on the highway shooting at random cars and pedestrians. Hopefully, someone will shoot back.
