Ordinarily this would be concerning, but at this stage, what would be the point? Everyone knows it will just be a Trump lackey lying profusely and lambasting the media for daring to ask inconvenient questions.
I don't like Trump one bit, but I do like that he is willing to answer just about any question thrown at him off the cuff (except what he wanted from Ukraine when with the Finnish PM). And he does it almost daily. He doesn't need press conferences.

if you listen to him, he doesn't answer the questions - he deflects and spins - and reporters can't delve into questions deeper.....all superficial stuff, finger pointing, name calling.
I had a boss like Trump once. He did quite a few q&a's with reporters on the fly. Like Trump, that man could bs and throw out what were nothing but irrelevant adjectives and stream of consciousness remarks about things he had never ever heard of. Afterward he'd laugh about it and pat himself on the back for the great job he did.
You have to be kidding about lack of press briefings. Why would you prefer a press briefing to receive 2nd hand interpretations rather than directly from Trump??????
The press briefings have turned into resume building video clips and quotes for their next book by pretend journalists or to lead off the evening programs with cherry picked clips without perspective or context. .
Trump gives access to reporters more than Obama ever did. Trump cuts out the spokesperson to allow the media to hear what he has to say or what is position is, first hand.
why have a press briefing??????
This is like being hysterical about wanting a plastic rose instead of a real rose. Like demanding a knock off Chinese socket wrench instead of an S-K ratchet.
Obama would take one question and milk it to death to eat up time and reduce the amount of questions to perhaps three, in the rare event he actually took questions from the press.
You prefer hearing Obama spokesman telling you 'yemen is the perfect example of Obama's ME policy'. Or 'the world is a more tranquil place because of Obama's foreign policy'. How about shovel ready jobs, or you can keep your doctor, or it took political courage to not cross the redline. Did any reporter ever critically question Obama without being labeled as racist????

?
So when was the last time that Trump held a press conference. Both Obama and Bush stood before the American people in some very tough times and answered questions with class, what is Trump afraid of other than actually having to answer a question. Meetings with foreign dignitaries have taken the place of press conferences since its their only shot to get a question off.
But if he isn't going to stand at the podium the press secretary should at least appear and answer questions.
