I knew this was one coming down the barrel. I knew that someone was going to blame white supremacy for why black people are fat. If so why is obesity a problem in other communities such as the white community, native American community for example suffers from high rates of diabetes. I wonder if Nabisco, Mon Santo, Del Monte and others will pay reparations for obesity in Black America?
Just another example of a black person beating that same old drum. All the white people I know are happy to live and let live, and wish people like her would do the same.
Being poor is not an excuse. There are plenty of healthy foods that are cheaper than fried chicken and macaroni and cheese, which is all I ever see black people eat. It might be more of a southern thing though. We are genetically doomed if our ancestors were big heavy set people, but that has nothing to do with race.
I did not listen to the video....but it is true that this is an obese nation and it is true that it is a nation in which whites control the sources and production of food, what gets put into foods, how much sugar is in foods, how food is marketed, distributed, etc, etc.
Poor people tend to be impacted the most by obesity as the cheaper foods and brands are the least healthiest. For example, a poor person may feel that giant steroid filled chicken wing or drum stick will go a lot further than free range chicken fed organic feed, while being a lot cheaper.
Yes, it impacts poor people disproportionately.....but that manifest racially because blacks are disproportionately poor. How did that happen and when? Higher rates of poverty among blacks was one of the legacies of racial oppression.

I knew this one was a coming. First thing first. I'm not hear to fat sham, and some fat people do go on to live normal and healthy lives with weight. But complications from obesity such as Cancer, Diabetes, high blood pressure, breathing problems like asthma, and high cholesterol shortens life spans of those who have weight trouble.

An activist who is an gender studies expert explains why she is obese, and how she puts the blame on white racism and white supremacy for why black women in America are fat and over weight. I watched the video segment and it was super cringey. The woman puts blame on white supremacy and how she explains when black women experiences racism, that the matbolism changes and thus weight gain happens. I'm no fan of Trump either, but she also envokes and puts blame on the Trump era for black women on being obese or overweight aswell.
I can say that the AA community mainly those in poverty do not have the same access of healthy food, gyms, and healthcare compared to those who are average at best or those in the upper class strata. However simple health changes like 30 minutes of exercise, portion control and practicing a form of diet can improve vitality of ones own health.
I know racism is a big issue in America, and those that be want to solve race issue, however obesity affects all people. Simple healthy changes starts with the individual, and not because of Trump and White Supremacy forcing you to eat unhealthy foods.
Well, we have those who make jokes about starving people living in mud huts in Africa. We've got some pointing out that blacks come from Africa and should go back, but when they do go back, it's a problem, too. We've got black males claiming to prefer curvy, larger women, so why not?
We also have those who dislike natural hair but then also dislike weaves and wigs, clothing choices, attitudes, et cetera. If one is speaking up for herself, she is too aggressive. If she is not speaking up for herself, she is a pushover or insecure. And surely enough, soon as one dares not to stay "in her place," the "Africa" jokes start up again.
Thin and black female. Must be drugs. Big and black. Ugly. Nothing worse than that, right? Somewhat "pretty" or intelligent and black. Must be uppity. Average and black. That must mean low IQ.

Despite all the above, if she isn't suffering with any sort of serious medical issues, then yes, being obese and remaining that way is mostly her own fault.

You are avoiding a general truth. The healthiest foods are the most expensive. The better that something is for you, food wise, the more expensive it is. Many poor people, especially women, use food to comfort themselves. Due to the the history and legacy of this society, black women tend to need more comforting than others.
