No one really believes we can make a more equal society anymore. Not the labor leadership, not the teachers, and especially not the Democratic party leaders. They know it's a lost cause, and they are just thrashing about trying to take down the whole damn thing and hurt those who are more fortunate than they are.
Making a deal with the devil like liberals hitching their wagon to the CIA makes a lot more sense when you realize "liberals" have lost faith in their own ideals and succumbed to nihilism.
