Multiple news outlets are reporting record voter turnout during this early voting period. Locally, our county is projecting a 90% turnout rate, a projection that could very well be smashed based on the first week of mail ballot drop offs.

Everyone has said Trump is his own worst enemy, from the lovely woman who said he has a nice at his contentious townhall to people within his own campaign. WSJ now reports voter interest is so high this election, turnout may reach historical heights not witnessed in over a century.

From the article:
While the early voting numbers surely include people who in other years voted on Election Day, Mr. McDonald pointed to several factors that suggest the returned ballots reflect higher turnout, and not just the parties “cannibalizing’’ their Election Day vote. Among them: An uptick in small-dollar political donations, increased consumption of political news and the record number of ballots cast in 2018, which marked the highest midterm turnout rate since 1914.

So far, Trump’s efforts seem to be having the opposite effect. Bigly. Did Trump shoot himself in the face, yet again?

This is not rocket science. Large turnouts favor Democrats while smaller turnouts favor Republicans. Trumps claim of voter fraud only caused more people to vote early. He won the last election because those folks who voted for Obama simply did not show up to vote. That want be a issue this election. Folks really know how important this election is and both sides will have record numbers I predict. Trump never attempted to grow the tent. He is happy to be adored by his hardcore fans. He is gonna lose by a large margin in this election because of this mistake.

There are a large number of lower level campaign associates in the Trump campaign who had advocated growing the tent as early as 2018 after the midterms. The campaign leadership capitulated to Trump’s “personality”, let us call it, and went hard after the base. It isn’t just independents/unaffiliated who are frustrated, many in his campaign have been demoralized since spring of this year. Of course, they won’t say it until after the election in a post mortem if Trump loses.

Trump and his band of idiot henchmen never bothered to stop and realize that removing ballot boxes and crippling the Post Office also made it a lot harder for a lot of republicans to vote for him. Nothing ever happens in a vacuum.

He trying to delegitimize the entire process, hoping it will go to the court that the GOP is stacking for him. If the pace of early voting is any indicator, I think he's going to be blown out of the water so badly he'll be forced to concede by midnight EST November 3.

That would be fabulous.

Exactly, enough of them stayed home, to give Trump narrow wins in the states that he flipped. Hopefully they have learned a lesson, after seeing this president in action these last four years.

Where are you surmising voter suppression by Trump? Having to stand in long lines is NOT voter suppression, for God's sake!

False premise. Trump has not attempted voter suppression.

Has Trump’s attempt at voter suppression backfired?

The people have been offended. Their reaction is predictable.

"Indeed, they sow the wind and reap the whirlwind."

Trump has pissed off the independents. People are voting that are neither party, and they are mad at Trump. Republicans are freaked that independents are voting down ballot too, and have no party loyalty.
