In the spirit of " 3rd strike- you are out ".
a mandatory sentence of 25 years for the 3rd fellony conviction,

I want to see if the people support a similar idea for DUI repeated offenders.

Mandatory jail time of 6 months for the 3rd conviction ( in a timeframe of,say,10 years ) of an adult driving under heavy influence...

If u don't want to do the time...

I admit I don't know the exact legislation in every state..

I think it is in the discretion of a judge to impose or not a jail sentence.

I phrased the poll question so that we can understand how people think on that matter.

1st offense lose the licence 6 months.
2nd offense lose license for 1 year and 3 months probation.
3rd offense lose license for 7 years and 1 year in prision.
Anything beyond the 3rd offense I will leave that to the judge

Or maybe a choice between the time or the drug that causes bad reactions if you imbibe?

Too Harsh? I disagree. There is NO EXCUSE possible for driving while intoxicated.

NONE!

Why dont you ask some one who is a victim of a drunk driver? Would these answers be any more harsh? I dont know.

But yours truely right here is a victim. It has been about 17 years since an 18 YO girl hit and knocked my lights out. That is a polite way of saying she killed me. While I was looking for my white light the oinkers were arguing who was going to make the report. You see I was T-boned and pushed into the sign that said "welcome to *** and welcome to **** on the other side. It was right on the border line of 2 towns where I landed. My truck rested half in one town and half in the other.

Time heals doesn't it. If you asked me way back then I might have wanted that girl to hang and slowly die. Today I am more mad at the damn cops who DO NOT protect and serve anyone but themselves. I heard a few more things over time that happened that day that I will not repeat here. Was it right to stand there arguing who was going to take the report rather then first check on the victims and call rescue? Im so sorry the call took them from Dunkin Donuts that cold January morning.

Today I have more respect for that drunk 18 YO girl then I do for the cops.

I think a couple of you said in California it is one strike and your in jail. I think I will have to go with that as what I would like to see. While I have no love for drunk drivers I do respect the fact that we as humans make mistakes. I believe in giving another chance. So yes to jail but a short jail time. Just enough to make them think twice next time.
