If those were the choices and the election were today, the poll suggests it could be close: Among all adults, 48 percent support Donald Trump and 44 percent are for Biden; it’s a similar 48-45 percent among registered voters. The differences are within the poll’s margin of sampling error.

The most surprising finding of the poll to me was this tidbit: how Americans would feel if one or the other candidates won. Contrary to the expectation that the commentariat would have (I include myself in this group), Americans would be more disappointed if Biden won a second term:
Who are you hoping to see as the nominees in 2024, ClaraC?
I know you didn't ask me, but I'm leaning towards DeSantis in the Republican primary, assuming he runs. That said, I'll vote for Trump over Biden with no questions asked. That isn't even a close call, and all I have to do is look at the history of my 401K to make that decision.
On the democrat side, I really don't know. It looks like it might be Newsom, but he's too far left.
We can agree on the Republican side. I don’t really want President Trump to run again and I would be fine with a nominee that champions policies and ideas that were successful during the Trump Administration along with new ideas and their own flavor of leadership. I just don’t want one of those “afraid of their own shadow” candidates like Mitt Romney, who tend to never fight back and tend to do whatever they can do to help Democrats pass destructive legislation.
It’ll be interesting to see how Newsom is covered in the media if he’s the nominee. He’s far left, yet I wonder if he’ll be portrayed as moderate. Anything to help Democrats win, I guess.
Are there any polls showing DeSantis VS Biden numbers?
