When was the last time either of these cities were top 10 in violent crime rates and why are cities like Houston, Dallas and Atlanta protected from the media about their violent crime rates?

Actively encouraging hood mentality while simultaneously refusing to enforce the law.

The soft on crime policies of the Left.

Allowing people to ignore their personal responsibility while enabling them to blame everyone and everything else.

Who would have thought that the systemic racism that this country was founded on (according to the Dems) would make it okay for someone to walk into a store, load up and walk out without paying. Who would have thought that spoiled brats would be able to protest, riot, assault cops, burn and loot and then go home to their comfy safe space all in the name of someone they had never met that was wronged while the good decent folks are left to pick up the pieces?

The break down of our society. The breakdown of morals and manners can all be attributed to the Democrats where wrong is right and to Love this country makes you a White Supremacist Deplorable.

Probably the 90s, but it's tough to find the stats compiled. LA, SF, NYC, Chicago are whole lot safer than back then, but have placing really changed?

in 1992, the murder capitol of the US was East Palo Alto! DC used to be in the top 3 every year, but was #24 in 2019.

Good question. Those three are in line with the first 4.
Chicago is 17th
Houston is 18th
Atlanta is 27th
Dallas is 31st
LA is 32nd
SF is 37th
NYC is 59th
