Lansing Michigan police handcuff a 12-year-old after they had a report of someone matching his description involved in car theft. Police claim wrong place wrong time but father doesn't buy it and is going to sue.
According to a statement by the Lansing Police Department shared on social media Friday, officers were investigating a string of Kia thefts, including the theft of a vehicle that was reported on the 3600 block of W. Jolly Road, where a witness described the suspect as wearing neon-colored shorts and a white shirt.
I understand the reason to investigate, but cuffs on a 12-year-old who isn't arguing with them. Highly doubt this would happen in some upper-class neighborhood.

You are right, probably wouldn't have happened in "upper-class neighborhood" but of course i bet a lot more people, including cops, are shot or attacked by "kids" in places like Lansing then in an upper class neighborhood.

Orange man bad because racism?
Let the father sue. Maybe the police went overboard here, but that's ok after they let cities burn in 2020 and so forth.
Bro literally came out swinging with racism for no reason . He was like one of those British people who yells " at least my kids don't get shot at school"
A pure case of mistaken identity. I think anyone can see the issue here, the kid matched the description. When the Police realized that they had made a mistake they apologized. There is no need to sue because nothing really that bad happened.
Can we blame the cops for being cautious? We are seeing kids at ever younger ages committing some terrible crimes from mass shoplifting, to grand theft auto to carrying and pulling guns out to shoot rivals. Is 12 years old too young to be a Child Soldier of the street?
I guess when the "ghetto lottery" hits you have to take advantage of it right? Maybe the parents will put whatever they have coming into a college fund for their boy? It sounds like he was doing the right thing by helping to put out the trash. Hopefully this one incident, no matter how embarrassing and possibly racist doesn't sour the kid on Police and the rule of Law?

No, I don't blame police for being cautious. Kids can carry guns or knives just like adults can.
Since another person matching the description (clothes) took off running, and they seemed to think this was the same person, that may be the reason for the handcuffs.
"LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — At least a dozen Kias were stolen in Lansing in just a few days. Police are investigating and owners are fed up."
"LPD is now offering wheel locks to help avoid thefts. You can pick those up at the Lansing Police South Precinct at 5815 Wise Road, Lansing."
Lansing is one of those cities that used to be really nice.
