I was listening to a podcast circa 2020, and one of the topics that came up was the alleged "labor shortage." Regarding that topic, the author of the podcast said
"you common folk think that you've had a victory. It will be short lived. The government is only going to flood the country with immigrants to replace you all. They are going to bring in so many immigrants, you will not even recognize your hometown."
I thought it was far-fetched back then. It turned out to be absolutely prophetic.

I have zero faith that this will lower the sheer numbers of asylum seekers. It will probably result in the same numbers at the border, with more being flown in direct from Latin America.
Biden does not get it. We are so overwhelmed that we need to HALT all further refugee immigration. Halt all illegal immigration. Deport all illegals and foreigners with invalid visas. Just STOP!!!!
We can process the ongoing citizenship requests, but then place at least a ten year HALT on any further immigration, until we can assimilate those we have now.
No illegals or bogus asylum seekers in our country should be given a path to citizenship they should be deported as our laws state.
As soon as people realize that this is the goal, maybe we can get serious about the border and not just view illegal aliens as 'those who pick our vegetables to keep them cheap' (which was actually what some were saying on this forum not that long ago).
Most illegals aren't picking produce they have taken once good paying jobs from Americans. As for crop picking we have unlimited visas for those jobs so we don't need illegals for that.

What is the point of your last paragraph? There are plenty of Americans of all ages that do roofing jobs. It's just that illegals have take over those jobs by working for less.
