Douglas Feith, the former undersecretary of defense for policy did a terrible job answering questions on the 60-minute interview. He actually said WMDs were never one of the reasons for the Iraq war until he's reminded how many times it was referenced by everyone in the Whitehouse including the President. He says the real reason: Anticipatory Self Defense. Hmm, I wonder if we will be able to start using this instead of just plain old self defense in the criminal justice system.

This insider did a horrible job for the administration and I think he just added some more votes for the democrats.

Hes exactly right WMD were the political ploy (lie) to get the authorization to go into Iraq. Removing saddam, stabilizing the country and getting the oil online in a full production capacity were the reasons

Hopefully we won't be using any more "anticipatory self defense" to attack Iran now.

Anticipatory of what?!?!?

Seriously, does anyone really think Iraq was a real threat to the US?

This was about a stupid ideological theory where these neo-cons thought that somehow if "freedom" was instituted at the barrel of a gun, Iraq would become the new Switzerland.

I remember hearing stories about how sophisticated and civilized this country by people like Mr. Feith before this debacle began. Of course, they never quite grasped that the sophisticated, educated elites they believed would bring about the new golden age in the Middle East were the same Baathist Party officials we were so quick to disband and dissolve. Hell, they couldn't even grasp the difference between Sunnis and Shia.

These people and their policies have been the biggest joke our country has been subjected to in my lifetime. It is disgraceful and people like Mr. Feith at the very least should be ashamed of the harm they have done to this country.

Well, it sounds like we went to war on the theory that Iraq would come after us one day so why not go after them first. When Feith was asked "Couldn't we use this same logic about Syria, Iran, China and several other countries?", He actually said "good point". Now that's scary. The neo-conservatives that have taken over the Republican party will cost them the election. True conservatives can't even support this stuff.

"Anticipatory self defense" is a bully's logic.

Let us summarize: We have eliminated the WMD that were not there, We have prevented the pumping of Iraqi oil that would reduce world petroleum prices, We have returned effective ownership of the remaining oil to our private companies and we have given billions of dollars on our friends with out having any of it effectively taxed. MISSION ACOMPLISHED!
