They were supposed to hit these benchmarks last year. Once they do, we are "supposed" to leave Iraq. For some reason, I doubt we will.

Now that the Iraqis have said they would turn over the oil we will have to stay there to make certain they do. Then we will have to invade Iran to get their oil. Then the Caspian basin oil fields. Then....

If that's the case, then all the more reason for calling it "good" and let's bring our people home.

Where is it written that the US govt. has to engage in nation building?

Enough is enough. Time for the Iraqis to grow up and sort out THEIR own issues. If we keep holding their hands, they'll never stop acting like children.

There you have it: if it's better now, then let's leave. NOW!

Wow what a great gift for the families of the troops that are there. They will be able to come home now and come home as victors. I agree now that the surge worked and we can end our entanglements there! I did not see in the report when the troops will start coming home?
