YouTube - Posing As A Bidder, Utah Student Disrupts Government Auction of 150,000 Acres Of Wilderness For Oil & Gas Drilling

A University of Utah student singlehandedly disrupts the Bush Administration's hasty and under-publicized auction of Utah BLM land, effectively postponing another auction until after Obama takes office.

Helluva lot more effective than a sign-waving protest march.

Good for Amy. She breaks a lot of stories, but almost always, the mainstram media doesn't have to guts to acknowledge them. She was consistently telling the truth about Iraq, right from day one.

Here's a text version:

Makes me wonder what BLM gets paid for via tax dollars. Mouthpiece for flavor of the month or do they have real criteria they're obliged to uphold?

Brave kid. I hope the judge tosses this out of court.

This happened three days ago and I dont see it in any big mainstream news yet - here's an AP article:

The Associated Press: Activist accused of tainting drilling lease sale

"The bureau already had pulled some parcels from the sale in response to complaints from the National Park Service and others. Ultimately, the agency dropped more than half the 359,000 acres first proposed for auction."

The Salt Lake Tribune scolds, but the comments seem to be mostly thumbs up for Tim deChristopher - The Salt Lake Tribune - comments for Bogus lease bidder won't face charges - yet

SLT: Bogus bidder: I had to take a chance - Salt Lake Tribune

"A legal defense fund for him has been established at Center for Water Advocacy, PO Box 331, Moab, UT 84532."

Voice Of Deseret: Ecoterrorist Tim DeChristopher Could Face Federal Charges For Making Bogus Bids For $1.7 Million In Oil & Gas Leases At Utah BLM Auction

Ecoterrorism, they say... Trying to wrap my head around that.
