Unfortunately President Obama can't fix Pottersville unless Pottersville gets off it rear and does the work it self! The same with the rest of this country. Too many people want a hand out instead of a hand up. It will take a lot of hard work, but it can be done if we quit asking for someone to fix it and start fixing it ourselves.

You were an absolute disgrace as a president. The only two things that I can think I can give you even a little credit for are the creation of the TSA (something that came about sooner than later thanks to your goofy handling of the warnings of 9/11) and increased AIDS funding for Africa. Too bad that for all the possible lives you saved in Africa, you overshadowed that by killing maybe a 1/2 million people thanks to you invading another country on a lie, just to say "I'm better than Daddy."
Your presidency was almost worthless. The best thing about it is it was so bad, that Republicans will mostly be a minority party for at least 8 years and hopefully more. Where I can start? You had 2 terms that you did not win legally (thanks to Katherine Harris and Ken Blackwell). You oppressed the reproductive rights of women to choose worldwide. Don't give me this "right to life crap", you don't give a rat's ass about a human life after it's out the womb. You ignored pre 9/11 intelligence since you were, inside your twisted mind, rooting for a war, to make money for your friends and GOP donors and get oil. You used a forged document about Iran trying to get uranium from Africa, yet pressure CBS to fire Rather because of documents that could not be authenticated. You outed a CIA agent (or turned a blind eye to your thugs doing so) since her husband spoke out against a war and ruined her career, while you stayed in yours. You tried to get the AG to sign off on torture, while he was sick in his hospital bed, to beat a deadline to make it ok. You had AG's fired, just because they were not GOP lapdogs and rewarded those big time that played the game. You appointed an AG who basically got fired for lying about the attorney purge (I know he resigned, but you do think we are that dumb, oops, some of your Limbaugh listeners probably are). You don't think that government should help the people, so you played a big role in the gross negligence of Katrina. You tried to privatize Social Security and told us, if it passed, to invest the retirement money in the stock market 3 years ago, well thank god that did not go anywhere. You've had people arrested at rallies for wearing T shirts that did not approve of you and phony reporters that asked you softball questions at press conferences (Jeff Gannon). You screwed Scott McCleanan over big time, as he covered for your lies. You ordered torture and then spent all but your last few days lying about it. I think you get the idea.
You were the same as a 150 hitter in baseball, you disgrace of a president, even if Obama, say for a hypothetical sake, "hits" 200, that will still suck compared to other presidents. However, it will still beat the hell out of you.
You never won an election legally, the supreme court put you in. You used the Christian Right big time (while calling the constitution a Goddamed piece of paper). One last thing, I hope you read the editorials on your presidency, especially worldwide, about your 8 years of waste. Very damning.

I share your sentiments and I just repped you to prove it. We know that the Bush supporters call us "Liberal hate mongers" because we are patriotic enough to bash the vermin that have brought our country to the brink of disaster. As I watched the Inaugural events today, I kept thinking about the wasted eight years, when so much good could have been done within our country and in our name. There is a movie called "Becket" that came to mind. If anyone has seen it they will understand my reference to it. Bush was following Cheney's lead and his part was to be the "War Time President" while Cheney enriched himself and his cronies. It never occured to Bush to do it any other way, but Cheney's way. He is paying the price now with an awful legacy. Obama thanked him graciously as was expected and as a formality. One could not help but notice how there was nothing else for Obama to commend Bush on throughout his speech. I don't think that Obama enjoyed the fact that he had to keep referring to how this country has to be repaired. What does that say about the condition that Bush has left it in? Bush could have done it so differently, but I suppose his ego and lack of empathy did not see him through to that end. You reap what you sow.

The problem is the public schools (government schools) controlled by liberals. They don't think it important to teach proper grammer or writing skills anymore.

Yes! I thought the same. I felt overjoyed to finally have a smart man in office but I wonder if I had to the chance to go back in time and get the Supreme Court to choose Al Gore instead, if I would do it. Of course, Obama may have been elected this time around if Al Gore had won. I am just saying...
My dad often says that if even 1/4 of the money that was blown off in this war was invested into America, we would be MUCH better off.

This has certainly been the most entertaining thread I've ever read on C-D. I'm just laughing my assparagus off. Had this been the religion forum, they would have already "locked" it just for thinking half the things being said here.
I'm hoping and wishing with guarded optimism Obama does well. I am not having illusions I'm going to get my house or job back tomorrow or that I'll see him walking barefoot across the Potomac in this lifetime, however, in my very short life as a black man, I can't believe I'm already speaking as if I am 80 when I find myself saying how I miss the "good old days" and I'm just talking about 8 years ago. Was it all Bush's fault? I won't say, but he AND his administration sure took the lead by example track that bred a whole era of greedy, corrupt bastards who exploited and screwed over the American public in just about every arena. Sure, gas prices can drop NOW. The fleecing was no longer needed because the mission was accomplished and the term drew near its end.
I will admit the American public had a hand in their own hanging but like with just about everywhere else, people are often dazzled by bullshiligit. Hell, religion has been doing it since Adam gave up a rib and some magical snake started talking to some naked chick.
All in all, Bush is outta here and Obama is in. Of course I am happy to see the change and feel the confidence we can ALL get things back on track if we just decide to put our differences behind us - some of which are so petty and assinine, it's sad. This "let them eat spam" shiligit has got to stop. We all bleed red blood and have feelings, needs and dreams too. I shouldn't have to be afraid to carry my sick 8 y.o daughter running a fever of 102 to the emergency room while at Disney World just because I know we don't have insurance and then have to sit and wait for 3 hours while docs pick their noses and fraternize and then have the hospital calling me up to pay the $900 bill for doing absolutely nothing. I mean, WTF???
Okay, sorry for the personal vent, but why should I not at least hold out some hope, show some support and believe and contribute that change has and will come?
