The default in this country is white, and unless you're black or mixed, usually that's the best way to fit in so as to not draw too much attention. Assimilation means making sure the white people are comfortable around you.

For everyones information, Hispanic is not a RACE. It is an enthnicity. Just like all Americans are not WHITE. There are WHITE AMERICANS, AFRICAN AMERICANS AND EVEN THE TRUE AMERICANS (NATIVE). Which one are you?? If you believe what the mirror shows that is. For example, You might look WHITE OR AFRICAN OR ANY ONE OF THE MANY BEAUTIFUL RACES OUT THERE. It doesn't really matter when you realize that we all have the capability of being good or bad. What really makes a difference is which we decide to choose. So, my advice to you is don't worry about how Hispanics are classified when it comes to crimes just try to be on the rightside or the scale. Ohh and by the way just because someone is of spanish decent does not mean the are mestizo or dark skin. You would be surprised at how different we all look.
