The website wants to credit President Obama in the White House but I think I'm going to give the credit for this ratings surge to the cockamamie porky "stimulus" bill in Congress, blessed by Obama, not just the President and his ethically-challenged political appointees. After all of the tax cheats, porn advocates and lobbyists that no one wants to talk about, I still think the public interest has more to do with "our money" because let's face it, loosey-goosey "do what I say, not as I do" politicians we've all seen before and shouldn't get the credit for a cable news ratings surge.
"So far during prime time (through Wednesday's ratings), FNC is averaging 2,495,000 Total Viewers, well ahead of CNN's 1,254,000 and MSNBC's 984,000 combined. In the A25-54 demo, FNC is #1 with 539,000 compared to CNN's 388,000 and MSNBC's 357,000.
FNC is up 23% Total Viewers and 28% in the A25-54 demo in prime time from the two weeks prior to the Inauguration of Obama to the two weeks since. CNN is up 5% in Total Viewers and 4% in the demo and MSNBC is down 1% in Total Viewers and 1% in the demo."
Lol, they've been #1 for years, no question of them even being in a race. They know their audience and they know how to play them - definitely some smart cookies over there!
Hurray! So what! For some popularity is the primary concern, for those who believe in the adage; strength is in numbers. As if popularity also determines accuracy in news reporting.
as was pointed out in a thread a few days ago, if CNN and MSNBC are left leaning, and you combine their viewership, it is more than FOX.
Fox promotes a sort of personal atmosphere that encourages viewers to stay and keep tuning in to see what the friends have to say about the day's official outrage - everyone else just gets the news and moves on.
Fox will remain #1 for years to come. Why? Its the only channel that slants its news to the right. For liberals, they have multiple choices, so their viewership is split to more than one network. Fox has a monopoly on conservative slanted news. MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS are all fighting over the same viewers with their liberally drenched reporting.

The company reported operating income for the quarter ending December 31st of $818m – down 42% from this time last year. This left net income for the quarter excluding impairment charges at $320m, down from $832m a year ago.
The Jim Lehrer News Hour? Funny that because it's quiet and not screaming and flashing it must be "liberal."
I admire Mr. Lehrer's equanimity. I do wish he would learn to pronounce "million" and "billion" properly, though.
Listen carefully.
He says "meeyen" and "beeyen."
